Colours are for everyone

Feminism: is when you support equality for boys and girls.

You know what makes me mad is when people call my sister a boy just because she has short hair and doesn't wear pretty pink dresses and stuff like that.

When people do this it is called sexism. I know that this could of been a mistake but the reason for this mistake is that from the moment most people are born they are introduced to the stereotype that girls are pink and boys are blue, girls like tea parties and dolls and boys like cars and getting muddy.

Well I know for a fact that this is not true.

I liked playing dolls when I was little and my friend Olivia and I still like wearing lip gloss and painting our nails, but we also like going out side with my little sister Olive to play rock stars or football.

Another example is my little cousin Cooper, he loves going to the dirt track and riding his motor bike or playing a game of soccor/ football but he also likes sitting inside away from all the dirt and having a good draw or watching a movie (Strawberry Shortcake) included. Just saying if you ever hear/heard some one say that boys like dirt and girls don't well that's not true. My sister loves getting messy and muddy and my cousin's pet hate is dirt so people must be crazy to say that boys are messier then girls.

When my Mummy was little the advertising for Lego showed that Lego was for everyone. Now when I go to the shops to buy Lego, the only Lego I am supposed to buy are the ones in the Pink isle.

This picture tells me that girls are supposed to be gorgeous and boys are supposed to be clever. This isn't fair because girls are smart too. Just yesterday I was at the Adelaide Show and there was a show bag called the Girls Only showbag and it was filled with stuff to make you look pretty.

On TV you see an ad that says "we asked 100 women what they thought about the new laundry powder..." this shows me that women are the only ones who do the washing but in my house my Dad does the washing!

Another example of sexism is an ad which has a whole bunch of boys playing soccer yelling "Good on ya Mum Tiptops the one good on ya mum!" This is sexist because it tells me that your Mum makes you all your food and sandwiches. It also shows you that only boys play soccer.

Girls play soccer too!

All of these things really peeve me off, what can we do about it?
